New Class: Dance Flow on Friday Nights @7 PM.

Somatic movement, rhythm, connection — and yes, BYOB

Friday nights at Sol Space are a little magic, a little movement, and a lot of medicine. Our Dance Flow class, every Friday at 7 PM, is led by the radiant Andrea LeVasseur, who blends somatic awareness, rhythm, and free-form dance to create a truly transformative experience. And yes — it’s BYOB, because unwinding and reconnecting can be equal parts intention and celebration.

Meet Your Guide: Andrea LeVasseur

Andrea is a movement teacher with a background in somatics, yoga, and creative expression. Her warm, grounded presence invites you to explore your body not as a project to fix, but as a source of wisdom, creativity, and power. Andrea’s classes are playful, intuitive, and deeply healing — a space where you’re invited to move how you feel, without judgment or pressure.

What Is Somatic Movement?

At its core, somatic movement is an embodied practice — “soma” meaning “the body as experienced from within.” Unlike traditional fitness or dance classes focused on choreography or perfection, somatic movement invites you to notice what’s happening inside your body. You move from sensation, not for performance. This kind of intuitive movement helps regulate the nervous system, reduce tension, and reconnect you with your body’s natural intelligence.

You might find yourself swaying, pausing, rolling on the ground, or stretching in ways your body asks for. The goal isn’t to do it right, but to feel more deeply — physically, emotionally, and energetically.

The Power of Free Dance

Then there’s free dance — the part of class where rhythm takes over, and the rules fall away. Free dance is liberating. It’s a form of expression that doesn’t require technique, just presence. You can move wildly or gently, solo or in sync with others, fast or slow. There’s no choreography — only you and the beat.

In a world that often tells us to sit still, be quiet, and follow along, free dance is rebellion in motion. And it’s joyfully contagious.

Why Rhythm Matters

There’s science behind the feel-good rush that happens when you move to a beat. Rhythm synchronizes the brain and body, engaging motor areas and stimulating endorphin release. It improves coordination, boosts mood, and even sharpens memory.

Dancing rhythmically with others can create what’s known as “interpersonal synchrony” — the magical effect when people move together in time. This has been shown to increase feelings of trust, empathy, and bonding. In other words, dancing together makes us feel more human.

Movement as Medicine for Connection

Connection is at the heart of our Dance Flow class — connection to your own body, to the music, and to each other. Research shows that meaningful connection with others improves overall health by lowering stress levels, supporting immune function, and even lengthening lifespan.

In Dance Flow, you’ll find not just movement, but community — a space where you can show up just as you are, let go of the week, and meet others doing the same.

And yes, it’s BYOB — because sometimes connection deepens over a shared drink, a shared song, and a shared exhale on the dance floor.

Come move with us.
