Think Tank at Sol Space: Building Ideas, Voices, and Futures

Think Tank at Sol Space

At Sol Space, we believe in creating programs that are truly from the community and for the community. Our upcoming Think Tank program reflects this mission: a six-week workshop for teens (ages 13–18) designed to spark critical thinking, encourage self-identity, and introduce the tools of entrepreneurship.

This program isn’t just about business—it’s about giving young people the chance to see their passions as real possibilities. Whether it’s jewelry making, photography, or offering neighborhood services, every idea deserves structure, mentorship, and community support.

What Young Adults Will Learn

Through a mix of hands-on activities, mentorship, and guest sessions led by professional parent volunteers, students will:

  • Explore their passions deeply and connect them to real-world opportunities.

  • Develop critical thinking skills through problem-solving and peer collaboration.

  • Learn financial literacy basics, including budgeting, pricing, and reinvesting.

  • Understand business structure and operations, from managing supplies to organizing services.

  • Discover marketing and branding tools, learning how to tell their story and present their ideas.

  • Practice self-expression and confidence by preparing and presenting a short business pitch.

By the end of the six weeks, each student will have created a mini business plan and will showcase their project at a grand finale community pop-up market—an event where neighbors, families, and friends can celebrate the creativity and innovation of our youth.

Why Think Tank?

When I was a child, I was given my first camera. I had many dreams and creative ideas, but I never found a place where I could get the structure, mentorship, or practical guidance I needed. Nobody was there to teach me about financial literacy, branding, or how to turn my art into something more.

Now, as a 29-year-old Mexican immigrant, small business owner, and mom of two boys, I want to change that for the next generation. I want our youth to know that their ideas matter, that they are seen and heard, and that our community is here to support them. Every young person has something to share with the world—and the world is ready for them.

The Think Tank is more than a workshop. It’s an invitation for our community to show up for young people, to provide guidance, and to celebrate their creativity.

Community Support

This pilot program will feature four sessions led by professional parent volunteers who bring real-world experience in areas like financial literacy, marketing, business operations, and creative development. Every week, students will gain practical skills while also receiving mentorship and encouragement from adults who want to see them succeed.

The program will culminate in a community market/pop-up event, where the youth will share their projects with the neighborhood. It will be a moment for them to shine—and for us all to witness the brilliance of the next generation
